Premiere Pro 1: Slideshow and Showreel

The aim of the workshop was to learn the basics of Premiere Pro and how to create a slideshow or a showreel. During the workshop the slideshow and showreel I created was using pieces of work provided to be by Jay for the purpose of learning the software. The slideshow was made by adding all the desired images in to the V1 section, resizing each image to fit the 5:4 screen size Premiere Pro works with. An audio track was then added to the A1 section. A blur effect was used on the first image (to be the title card) to allow the text to be read unhindered by the image behind. Introductory text was added to the first image with a transition in and out for the text, the length of the title image was adjusted to fit the beat of the music. An end screen card was added with text crediting the music used within the slideshow. A transition in and out was added to the end card and then the music was faded out to the end of the slideshow. This was then rendered out into an mp4 file (via file > export > media) Using H.264 as the standard render settings rather than a QuickTime mov. For the showreel all of the files used were mp4 rather than jpgs, each scaled to fit the screen size, I added a crossover transition between each animation to make it run smoothly. Like the slideshow an introductory and end title card was added, with a transition in and out for both. For the showreel I used Audition to edit a piece of music down to the length needed for the showreel. This was done by adding the piece of music into audition twice, cutting approximately the end two thirds off the first one and the beginning two thirds off the second one. These were then pushed up together and the beat to which one ended and the other started was clipped slightly more to make the transition between the two seamless. The edited piece of music was then added into Premiere Pro onto the showreel, a fade out was added at the end. Then the showreel was rendered in the same way as the slideshow.
