Type, Image, Composition 5: Abstract Typography continued

Following on from the abstract typography I created a print with a mixture of the three fonts I made stencils for in the workshop, Din Alternate, Cooper and Baskerville Bold.



I then proceeded to experiment with this abstract typography idea in a digital format. I took the typeface Cooper Black, from the same font family as Cooper. I created a digital drawing for each of the capital letters of Cooper Black, focussing only on a particular section and not the whole letter. I used these drawings as a base for further abstract compositions as shown below. One made up with the letters to spell out Cooper, the second of just the vowels and the third using letter sections that formed good shapes Q, S, V, R and G.
