InDesign 1: Creating Presentations
During the workshop we were shown the best ways to clean up
scanned images and the basics of putting together a presentation. For cleaning
up the scans we primarily used photoshop. Using the levels, photo filters, auto
tone and auto contrast we tried to eliminate the yellow tones that are usually
present after scanning in a sketchpad image. Once we had got rid of the yellow
tones, we darkened up the pencil lines, so they are more visible on the screen.
The image was then cropped and centred; finally using the spot healing tool to
clear up any noise from the scanner or unnecessary marks on the page that are
still visible after cropping the image. The images were then exported as JPEGs
with settings to compress their size, so the PDF wouldn’t be too large of a
file. We then used a layout suggested by Jay to put together a simple
presentation in InDesign using the scanned images we had edited. He also showed
us the best way to put videos in a PDF to keep the file size down and prevent
it from crashing; linking the hyperlink to the video to an image in the document.
The PDF pages and cleaned up scanned images are shown below.
